Reform of Israel’s electricity market

Strategic consulting to Israel Electric Company (IEC) regarding electricity-market reform
  • Business Dilemma:
Israel decided to initiate a structural reform in the electricity sector, part of which envisaged a split and sale of the generation division into several privately owned Gencos. TASC was asked by the IEC to analyze the proposed electricity-market reform and outline an optimal future market structure.

  • Process:
TASC’s key deliverables were a comparative international survey of similar processes, a cost-benefit analysis of the reform, and an analysis of the possibile introduction of effective competition in the Israeli market. In addition, we assisted senior IEC management throughout the sector-reform negotiations.

  • Strategic solution & impact:
A market-sector reform plan was agreed upon with the government.
